Prior to the arrival of the Sun King, in the French court, political intrigues wove through cultural textures that crossed Europe; the Italian, French, and Spanish musical ambiances also were brought into close contact. Avant le Soleil is a journey through royal salons and the plazas of the kingdom of France immediately prior to the dawn of a new Sun, Louis XIV, who transformed musical style.
