Elena Biscuola gained her diploma in “Vocal Chamber Music” with full marks and special mention, under Maestro Erik Battaglia’s guidance, singing at the Conservatorio in Turin. She then specialized in the German Lied with Dietrich Fischer Dieskau and Irwin Gage.
In 2004 she participated in the Third International Competition of Lyric and Chamber Singing in Vercelli, where she was awarded the prize for the best interpretation, and the second prize (first prize not assigned) in the category “Chamber and Sacred Music”. In 2006, she received the prize as “best duo” with Marina D’Ambroso, and third prize at the 22nd International Competition of Chamber Vocal Music in Conegliano.
Her romantic repertoire led her to work with conductors such as Antonio Ballista, Rudolf Buchbinder e Tiziano Severini. At the same time she studied “Ancient Music” and gained a degree with full marks and special mention in “Renaissance and Baroque Singing” at the Conservatorio in Vicenza, studying with Gloria Banditelli.
In 1999, with the ensemble Vox Altera, she won the International Competition “Luca Marenzio” for Madrigal Unaccompanied Voices. She performed in the main festivals of Ancient Music in Italy, as well as abroad, (Regensburg, Ambronay, Utrecht, Al Bustan Beirut, Brugge, Musica Antiga de Barcelona) singing with Athestis Chorus , Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Cappella Artemisia, Concerto Italiano, Concerto Köln, Les Nations, L’arte dell’Arco, la Risonanza and collaborating with conductors such as, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Alfredo Bernardini, Fabio Bonizzoni, Federico Guglielmo, Gerhard Jenemann, Peter Maag, Michael Radulescu e Ton Koopmann. She has recorded for Amadeus, Chandos, Gaudeamus, Onclassical, Naxos, Tactus and Bottega Discantica.

After his university degree in Psychopedagogy he dedicates himself to music, studying with the soprano Giovanna Damian and then getting his Degree in Opera under the supervision of Alessandra Ruffini and Lidia Tirendi at the Vicenza Conservatory of Music. He studies technique with the tenor Enrico Paro and he also gets a Master Degree in Reinassance and Baroque Music studying with mezzosoprano Gloria Banditelli and soprano Patrizia Vaccari. He studies early music with the countetenor Roberto Balconi in Milan at the International Academy of Music “Claudio Abbado” , at “Mozarteum University” with the bass Harry Van der Kamp and the soprano Gemma Bertagnolli (with whom he also studies in Italy) and at University Menéndez Pelayo (Spain) with M° Vincent Dumestre.

Soprano, born in Graz, studied violin at that city´s Conservatory, and completed training as an actress at the school of the Vienna Volkstheater. Television, Film and Theatre engagements followed.She received her training in singing at the Vienna Conservatory and as a private student of Hilde Rössel-Majdan, Hilde Zadek and Herwig Reiter.
The many facets of her repertoire embrace music from the middle ages to contemporary works. The lyric soprano has appeared as a guest artist in productions at the Theater an der Wien, the Opera House in Graz, the Berlin State Opera, the Vienna Kammeroper, the Neue Oper Vienna, the Vienna Odeon, the Oper Klosterneuburg, the Vienna Schauspielhaus, as well as at the City Theatre in Klagenfurt and at the Carinthischer Sommer.
Besides her appearances with the Vokalensemble NOVA, with which she has sung since 1998, Johanna von der Deken has participated in concerts with Die Reihe, Klangforum Wien, the Wiener Akademie, Armonico Tributo, the Haydn-Trio Eisenstadt, the Ensemble Prisma Wien, La Capella Reial de Catalunya und the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Projects of the recent past include King David by Arthur Honegger in the Vienna Konzerthaus, Opern der Zukunft at the Graz Opera House, Haydn´s Creation at the styriarte, and the Wolfenbütteler Marienklage at the Trigonale festival.

He earned his diploma in Pianoforte at the Conservatory “G. Tartini” of Trieste and his diploma in Harpsichord at the Conservatory “F. A. Bonporti” of Trento with highest honors. He then studied at the Schola Cantorum of Basilea in order to deepen and expand on, in a philological manner, the execution of antique and baroque music, concentrating on the repertoire for harpsichord, organ and fortepiano.
Carlo performs in concerts both as an organ and harpsichord soloist and as part of orchestras and ensembles specialized in the execution of antique and baroque music on original instruments. He has participated in Festivals and Concert Seasons in Italy and abroad (Germany, Austria, Poland). He regularly collaborates with the ensemble La Stagione Armonica directed by Sergio Balestracci with whom he frequently performs in duets.
He has helped realize performances of different operas and oratorios presented for the first time in modern times. Some of these works include L’Atenaide by A. Vivaldi, performed with Venice Baroque Orchestra, presented at the 63° Settimana Musicale Senese, which is organized by Accademia Chigiana di Siena, and broadcasted in Eurovision by Radio Rai 3; Marc’antonio e Cleopatra by J.A. Hasse, broadcasted by Rai 5 from the Salone delle Feste of Palazzo Labia in Venice; L’Olimpiade by B. Galuppi, performed at Teatro Malibran in Venice and recorded as world premiere in DVD for the record label Dynamic; Vespro della Beata Vergine by Orazio Tarditi, performed at the 2012 Ravenna Festival and broadcasted by Radio Rai 3; La Passione di Gesù Cristo Oratorio for soloists, chorus and orchestra by Fernando Paër, performed with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto using the transcript of Sergio Balestracci, and recorded for the music label CPO in the Auditorium of the Conservatorio Pollini di Padova.
Alongside his concert work he also transcribes and revises musical scores of operas, oratorios and instrumental music commissioned by concert venues and theaters. Some of his transcription and revision works include L’Olimpiade by B. Galuppi (together with musicologist Franco Rossi), Il Crociato in Egitto by G. Meyerbeer (inaugural opera of the Stagione Lirica 2007) commissioned by the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice of Venice, La Cecchina by Niccolò Piccinni commissioned by the Fondazione Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo. In 2015 he realized the modern edition of the dramatic compositions Amor Prigioniero by Luca Antonio Predieri and Giuseppe Bonno on libretto of Metastasio, which he directed in its first execution ever with Venetia Antiqua Ensemble during one of Venice Music Project’s Antique Music Seasons in the Church of San Giovanni Evangelista in Venice. In 2017 he curated on behalf of I solisti Veneti the modern edition of the mottetto Tuba, trympana cantate by Ferdinando Bertoni and of a concert for violin and orchestra by Giuseppe Tartini, performed at the 2017 Veneto Festival.
